I’ve completely ignored my blog over the last month. I’ve been guest blogging on other sites and spending lots of time on Instagram curating a MOST colorful feed. Today I needed an extra special blog inspiration environment and as I type this I’m sitting at the Safeco Field ballpark (thank you WiFi) watching my childhood team take on the local team.  Texas Rangers vs Seattle Mariners on a temperate Spring afternoon does a body and mind good (the hotdog I just devoured didn’t hurt either).
Speaking of Spring…
One of my MOST favorite things to do in the Pacific Northwest is visit the Skagit Valley tulips during the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. The drive is beautiful, the farm country is inspiring, and the tulip fields are colorfully energizing and make for great camera play! Come along with me as I wander{lust} and color{lust} through the rows of color.
I started my day before the sun
I was hoping to catch some sky color with the Skagit Valley tulips color. I pulled to the side of the road when I came upon a field with an Eastern sunrise perspective. It was a chilly but beautiful morning under the moon at a field ready for workers to begin their day in the fields.

As the “golden hour” began to shine through, so did the row and rows of tulips.

Once the sun was up I headed over to one of Skagit Valley tulips main attractions, Tulip Town, for a prime viewing experience of rows and rows of color!
Hanging out in the Skagit Valley tulips is always a good exercise in “big picture, little picture” thinking as you take in the vistas and then get up close and personal with the blooms and discover their unique qualities.
A good life lesson exercise, no?
Art and creativity is always a good mind workout.

So of course we had to take a boot shadow shot together!
Oh, and all that mud? Well, here’s another good “life lesson” from the tulips. When you visit, wear rain boots and if you take kids (or sassy grown ups) you *might* want to bring trash bags and a change of clothes.
It get’s muddy…slippery…and TEMPTING as this little guy shows us!
In the afternoon I stopped over at Roozengaarde for more color inspiration.
These mutli-colored, frilly tulips are my ABSOLUTE favorites!!!! #swoon
The Skagit Valley tulips are entertainment for photographers of all ages
and they are the perfect place for a Spring portrait…
Especially when you are missing a front tooth and you are this darn cute!
Working the fields
These fields are working farms and are where many of the tulips we purchase come from. I love seeing the activity that goes on and how my tulips go from farm to home!
Lots of gratitude goes out to all these hard Skagit Valley tulips workers who give us tulips for home and keep the fields beautiful for visits and photos!
A trip to the fields isn’t complete without a little camera painting…
Those pinks!  That BLUE sky! They are giving me a total 2016 Pantone color rush.
When you visit the tulip farms you are sure to find color everywhere and inspiring differences in shape, size and texture. Tulips are most certainly my favorite flower! And, Skagit Valley is my most FAVORITE place in the Spring! If you live in the Pacific Northwest, head over quick because the blooms came early this year and the farms are closing this weekend.
