Great Blue Heron Greeting Ceremony Fine Art Photography Print

$66.00$1,185.00

This Great Blue Heron Greeting Ceremony image is a portrait of a morning heron friend on Fay Bainbridge Beach on Bainbridge Island during the Summer of 2024. For a limited time, this just released piece is a give-back opportunity. 80% of profits from sales of this image will be donated to the Bainbridge Island Land Trust’s mission to save the Heron Rookery in Winslow. The Rookery is just down the street from where I live and when I moved to the island, suffered a head injury and couldn’t drive for 8 months, the Rookery was a special spot for me. It was walkable and magical and gave me such joy. It’s time to give back to the Rookery that meant so much to me that year!

Help me protect the nest.

Description

Newly Launched! Great Blue Heron Greeting Ceremony give back print to protect the nest.

I often get to the beach for sunrise when it’s still dark and the stars are still out. It brings me such joy to watch the transition from a dark, starry sky to the magic of the blue hour and then colors painting the sky. Often, I’m the only person on the beach spending time with the elements and the animals. They seem to know me now, completely comfortable with my presence. It’s a gift…and an honor.

On this particular day during the Summer of 2024, I stayed long past sunrise and slowly and respectfully joined my heron friend on their morning breakfast ritual. I walked slow as this majestic being waded around the waters, spearing fish with its beak, warning off other heron and birds. They maintained their territory and a morning abundance. But, they never warned me off. In fact, on this morning they seemed to welcome me. As I sat on the sand, admiring and loving, this beautiful being walked out of the water towards me, stopped and looked in all directions, as if posing. Then walked a little closer and bowed head, it was a magical great blue heron greeting ceremony!

Mornings at the beach are a ritual, and these kinds of experiences are why. It isn’t about “getting the shot”…actually I stopped using the words “shot” and “taking pictures”…because I truly feel like I began to co-create with nature and listen into the passion in my heart. My mornings and my art became about devotion, about practicing presence and reverence. There was singing and welcoming each heron, gull crow, seal, otter that joined me in community of nature. I hope my images from this season of the year…and of my life…bring a new infusion of peace, beauty and reverence for nature to you also.

Fine Art Paper Prints

Available sizes: 8″x12″ 16″x24″ and 24″x32″

Prints are created using eco-friendly fine art paper with a 1.5″ border mounted on archival white artboard, providing a firm surface to protect prints.

For this print, I have chosen Hahnemühle Hemp Fine Art Paper. It uses one of the oldest and most diverse natural fibres in the world and is made of 60% hemp fibre and 40% cotton. The hemp plant requires minimal maintenance, grows quickly and doesn’t need any pesticides. The rapid growth means that more cellulose can be produced on the same cropland than with other raw materials, and they also require much less water, helping to save valuable resources and protect the environment. The lightly textured surface gives the paper a pleasant, silky feel. The acid- and lignin-free FineArt inkjet paper meets the most exacting requirements for age resistance.

Prints will stand the test of time and bring color and sanctuary to your wall. Framed prints include my signature style white frame and conservation anti-glare acrylic front.

Why do I frame in white? I frame in white because it gives my images a sense of space and freedom, allowing them (and the viewer) to breathe and feel expansive. The white border, paired with the white frame, creates a seamless transition, making the image appear weightless and infinite, as if it floats in its own realm and inviting the viewer to experience boundless nature.

*NOTE: Additional shipping charges may apply for large size framed prints depending on location. Artist will reach out with details after purchase.

Bamboo Prints

8″x12″ and 5″x7″ bamboo “wood” prints. NOTE: 5″x7″ prints will feature a slightly cropped image.

Bamboo prints are made with sustainably sourced ¾” bamboo and come with one or two keyhole slots on the back to make hanging a breeze. Also included is a desktop stand. Prints are made with photo mounted Lustre photo paper using archival inks and handcrafted in a workshop in California that uses 100% solar power.
